This season’s smartest buys in chequerboard or candy stripes are a shortcut to upping the pizzazz in any home.
Though a UK household staple since the 1980’s, ever since Jonathan Anderson referenced the beloved ceramics brand, Cornishware, for his SS24 menswear collection in June, their candy-striped mugs shot to the top of every fashionista’s wish list, marking a somewhat revival in retro stripey tableware.
Elsewhere, fashion designer turned ceramicist Henry Holland’s debut home collection, which includes quirky chequerboard milk jugs, vases and bowls, evokes the patterns of decorative home décor brand MacKenzie-Childs, long associated with checks since its beginnings back in 1983.
Add to the mix a bevy of independent brands offering everything from statement furniture to vases in candy stripes or chequerboard—there’s plenty of ways to upgrade your home this month.

Cushion Calling
You may have found yourself poring over Buchanan Studio’s Instagram, which features their past design projects, including the achingly cool redesign of artist Philip Colbert’s house. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
